Case Management in Professional Practice
Description
In this course, students will become familiar with both the mental health and addictions systems in Ontario. Students will learn how to complete a variety of common case management functions such as completing referrals, networking with community partners and assisting clients with advocacy. Common assessment tools will be explored such as the Ontario Common Assessment Of Needs (OCAN). Different theoretical models will be examined such as Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery-Oriented Practice in order to help students develop an awareness of the role that case management plays in supporting individuals. Ethical and legal issues that accompany the responsibilities of case management in professional practice will also be explored.
