Description
In this course, students will study the developing child from conception to middle childhood. Patterns of development will be examined in terms of the interplay of physical, cognitive and social-emotional processes. Students will become appreciative of each child as an individual and will recognize the various factors that influence human development. The ELECT document will be referenced as we discuss and apply the areas of development to specific age groups. In order to plan and implement curriculum effectively, students must be able to observe and understand children's behaviour and have an understanding of various theories of child development.
