Child Guidance
Description
In this course, students will demonstrate an understanding of children's behaviour within a social context. Factors that influence behaviour will be researched, including: environmental influences, developmental levels, social and familial practices. Students will examine various strategies for encouraging prosocial behaviour, as well as techniques for supporting children in developing conflict resolution skills. Students will explore the signs, symptoms, and impact of stress on young children and how to serve as a barrier between the child & the stressor. Further, students will explore the legislative requirements for designing and implementing child guidance policies and procedures.
