Field Placement (Addictions and Mental Health)
Description
In this course, students will apply their learning directly to the field. Placement will involve the shadowing of their mentor and/or direct interaction with individuals receiving services from the host agency. Students will observe and/or practice as many Addiction and Mental Health related skills as possible. In cases where direct interaction is not possible, students may develop a customized plan with creative alternatives such as role-plays with their preceptor based on commonly encountered scenarios. Additional activities will be incorporated whenever possible (e.g. specialized training) to further enhance student learning based on opportunities offered by the host agency and/or the unique interests of the student. Students will participate in a knowledge exchange to help one another further enhance their expertise.
