Leisure Education for Therapeutic Recreation

This course will examine how therapeutic recreation services utilize leisure education and counselling to identify, develop and maintain leisure knowledge and behaviours of individuals with diverse needs. This course will provide students with an understanding of leisure education techniques in various therapeutic recreation service models, strategies to identify and address barriers that may impact leisure participation, supports to promote independent leisure lifestyles, how to access community leisure resources and a variety of leisure education and counselling techniques.
