Program for the School Age Child
Description
In this course, students will demonstrate their knowledge of child development by designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for school-aged children. The components of high-quality care and supervision of school-aged children, in a variety of settings, will be the focus of this course with an emphasis on effective communication, strategies that engage children including physical activity, innovative programming techniques, developmentally appropriate environments, and relationship building. Students will also explore the philosophy of and overall expectations of the kindergarten program in Ontario.
