Therapeutic Recreation for Diverse Populations
Description
In this course, you will be provided with an overview of the philosophies and trends in the provision of therapeutic recreation services for persons with diverse abilities. Leisure participation of individuals with diverse abilities will be explored with an attitudinal, societal, and systemic perspective. Emphasis will be placed on identifying abilities, limitations, and characteristics of various disabilities/diagnoses/groups in connection to the five health domains (cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual), and the resulting implication for meaningful participation in recreation and leisure. The therapeutic recreation process will be applied to support individuals with diverse abilities.
